Christmas at Rufford Old Hall
Start a new tradition at Rufford Old Hall this Christmas by joining us for a festive day out on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 5-22 December.
Join us on Thursdays and Fridays for a more peaceful Christmas experience set in the 1920s or visit us on weekends for plenty of family festive fun, including free donkey rides and live performers.
Please note that our Christmas Grotto and Brunch with Santa are now sold out.
If you are in a group, why not book a special group visit to include a private tour of the house and treats in the Tea Room? See here for more information.
On Thursdays & Fridays
Experience a 1920s Christmas
Journey through the ground floor of the house to experience how Christmas was celebrated in the 1920s. Step into the dining room to see the table specially laid out and the tree decked in feathers.
Christmas on camera
Visit the Drawing Room to watch British Pathé films shot in the 1920s of Christmas festivities, inspired by a letter from our archive about how the Fermor-Hesketh's 'played films all evening' at Christmas.
See the Tudor Great Hall transformed by a magical mix of a glittering Christmas tree, fresh garlands and a tempting Elizabethan yuletide feast.
Wrap up warm and go for a stroll through the wintery gardens, spot birdlife in the woodland and follow the canal path. Why not grab a hot drink to-go from the Tea Room to take with you?
On weekends only, Rufford's garden will welcome some very special visitors dressed specially for the occasion. Enjoy free donkey rides for the little ones through the wintery garden.
Step into the Great Hall and the courtyard to hear festive music performed by live singers and choirs surrounded by twinkling decorations and a jovial atmosphere.
Grab a trail map from Visitor Information and go on a festive family adventure along our indoor and outdoor trails.
Bring the family to take part in drop-in crafts activities and make some seasonal creations perfect for hanging on your Christmas tree.
