Springhill's Garden Fair

A great opportunity to stock up on all your shrubs and plants native to Springhill. Take a look at our community allotments, enjoy a tour of Springhill gardens and get some gardening tips from our Rangers. Children can have a go in our 'plant it, grow it, eat it' workshop.

Springhill, the National Trust property in Moneymore plans to be a hive of activity as staff and volunteers prepare for their Garden Fair on Sunday 18 June, 12noon-5pm.

The Drying Yard Nursery, located within the old Laundry Garden at Springhill has grown significantly over the past three years with the help of a number of staff and volunteers. Come along and see the results of months of hard work and dedication from volunteers and staff and take the opportunity to purchase plants specially grown from original shrubs and trees across the historic site.

One of the many highlights of the Garden Fairs programme will be the ‘cuttings workshop’ hosted by Gardener, Warren Marten. Warren will be sharing some gardening tips and demonstrating how to grow and develop your plant collections from original cuttings.

Springhill Area Ranger, Sophie Atkinson will be hosting garden tours for the first time this year. Explore the wider estate with Sophie and see the gardens as they come into bloom. For one day only, take a look ‘behind the wall’ as the Springhill community allotments will be open - a unique opportunity to see the plots in action.  Take a tour of Springhill house, learn more about the history of the Lenox-Conyngham family and hear unique stories about the gardens and estate as the team bring the outdoors-indoors.

Relax and enjoy live music from the Lazy Hooks throughout the day. There’s lots planned for the kiddies too - take part in the ‘plant it, grow it, eat it’ workshop and follow the natural play trail around Springhill – make a mud pie, hold a scary beast and set up a snail race. We’ll also have our beastie bags available to hire from visitor reception for the little adventures.
