Forest Fridays 2016

The family are bound to enjoy being outdoors and closer to nature with wild family fun every Friday. There are perfect places to picnic within the garden and a range of wild adventures to enjoy. A selection of drinks and snacks will also be available near the ‘forest’ to keep you all full of energy throughout the day.

The ‘Forest Friday’ events are taking place every Friday in August 2016, 11am-3pm in House wood, which is inside the garden. Find us by using the garden entrance by the house and following signs to the forest.

Greg Power bushcraft

Expert Greg is back and will be sharing his outdoor skills, teaching the art of fire lighting and a session on camouflage.

Whispering woodfolk

These talented artists will bring the woods to life. You can join in workshops throughout the day to learn all about the art of trapeze, stone carving and story making. The event will end each day with an enchanting aerial performance in the trees, capturing the magic of the forest and offering a glimpse into another world.

Tree climbing with Stourhead’s own arborists

The Stourhead tree climbing team will once again be present, offering not only a chance to climb some of our wonderful red oaks, but also giving a climbing demonstration to show the different methods and techniques needed to be an arborist.

11am: a climbing demonstration and workshop on trees

From 12noon: family tree climbing by timed tickets

Tracker packs and our 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ booklets will be available throughout the day, as well as an oak tree quiz to help you discover more about Stourhead’s nature.

To enjoy a Forest Friday there is a cost of £5 per child, plus normal admission. Tree climbing has an additional cost of £2.50 per climb on a first come first serve basis; adults are more than welcome to have a go at climbing too.
