Practical Lime Skills for Homeowners Courses at Coleshill

Repairing your historic home sympathetically can be hugely rewarding and whether you plan to employ professionals or do it yourself our introductory course will give homeowners a good knowledge of conservation lime products and application techniques to build on.

Throughout the day conservation topics and skills are explained simply and for each subject there are practical demonstrations, then participants are encouraged to have a go themselves, with guidance at hand.  The course covers the following:

- Selecting and mixing appropriate lime mortars and plasters.
- The identification of inappropriate cement mortars and removal techniques.
- Practical lime pointing of stone and brickwork.
- Practical lime rendering and plastering including traditional lath and plaster.
- Breathable decoration. 

Preparing for our lime courses

Our approach is fun and we aim to create a relaxed environment where you will enjoy learning.  We encourage you to bring photographs of projects and samples of mortars and plasters for discussion during in the breaks.  Course numbers are limited to ensure individual attention by two course leaders.

All tools, materials and personal protective equipment are provided but please bring protective outdoor clothing and footwear.
Fee: The course is £140.00 inc. VAT.  Duration: 8.45 am – 4.30pm
