Lechlade Walk

This peaceful walk from Buscot village to Lechlade and back follows a path along the River Thames, taking in the first lock on the river as well as a Second World War bunker.

Start point

Buscot Village National Trust car park

Step 1

Leave the car park by walking down the track alongside the weir field to Buscot Lock.

Step 2

Cross the lock and weir and turn left onto the Thames path. Continue along the path until you get to Lechlade.

Step 3

Cross the footbridge and continue to the road bridge.

Step 4

Pass beneath to St John's Lock, which was the first lock on the River Thames.

Step 5

Bear left and cross the bridge, taking care on the road. Turn right along the road after the Trout Inn.

Step 6

After a short distance turn to the right and rejoin the Thames path back the way you came to return to Buscot.
