Our work at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds

A busy auditorium at the Theatre Royal

Here at the Theatre Royal we do a lot of work in our community and go into schools – taking the arts to local children.

Learning through arts and culture improves attainment in all subjects and participation in structured arts activities increases cognitive abilities.
Students from low-income families who take part in arts activities in school are three times more likely to get a degree; while employability of students who study arts subjects is higher and they're more likely to stay in employment. Students who engage in the arts at school are twice as likely to volunteer and are 20% more likely to vote as young adults. (Key research findings: The case for cultural learning; Cultural Learning Alliance)
Our work with schools and colleges is extremely important to us.
We offer a variety of high-quality projects which run alongside the work that happens on stage.
We're passionate about working with schools to ensure that our offer is really beneficial to you.

All of our workshops can be used to work towards Arts Award and Arts Mark and are geared specifically for pre-schools, Primary Schools and Secondary Schools.
