Get crafty at Tredegar House
Let the beautiful surroundings of Tredegar House inspire you and your kids as we celebrate all things creative throughout the month of June.
This June we’re encouraging you to embrace your inner artist and get messy with all things creative.
Head over to the Orangery and challenge yourself to capture the complex but beautiful parterres of the Orangery Garden. We have set out some graphite and soft pastels to help you relax, unwind and let your creativity flow.
We have also turned our Stables into a creative hub for kids with all things art and crafts; be prepared for messy hands and lively fun.
Photographic artist Lucy Jane Purrington will be here throughout June to do a work in residence. Lucy’s playful exploration of the myths surrounding Evan Morgan is playing in the upstairs of the House. In this project, she’s talking to us all about our furry and feathery friends.
On her residency, Lucy said: “This tradition for the Morgan’s to build relationships with their pets and farm animals spans over several generations and is reflected in the encouragement for dog walkers to use the grounds today.
“Tredegar House is full of stories and intriguing tales. Inspired by this, and the Morgan’s love for their animals, my aim is to investigate the dynamic relationships guests to Tredegar House have with their animals and pets. I will be asking visitors to tell me about their pets at home, or pets that they grew up with as children, and filming a short section to be used in a film that will be entirely people’s stories.
“This collection of videos will be projected in the Stables. I hope that guests will be encouraged to return to the property to see themselves within the finished film, and hear about others’ experiences.”
Lucy will be on site on the following dates throughout June:
- Thursday 2nd
- Wednesday 8th
- Sunday 12th
- Wednesday 15th
- Saturday 18th
- Tuesday 21st
- Sunday 26th
