Scaffolding around Tredegar House

We have partnered with organisations sharing our passion for heritage conservation in order to bring our Lifting the Lid aspirations to life.

Historic building conservation is the bread and butter of what we do here at the National Trust and our team works hard to ensure Tredegar House is preserved for ever, for everyone. We have therefore chosen to work with like-minded organisations to ensure the historical integrity of our treasured building is maintained throughout the Lifting the Lid project.

Following a robust recruitment process we appointed heritage building company Ellis and Co. as the lead contractors for the Lifting the Lid roofing repairs. The team, led by Site Manager George Lansdown, bring more than 30 years of building preservation experience, employing a policy of minimal intervention and the use of traditional techniques.

The family run business have worked with the National Trust on numerous occasions, previously helping the conservation of Avebury Manor, Clevedon Court and Stourhead among many other places.

The team are making light work of the extensive scaffolding build.

Ellis and Co. appointed Pen Mill Scaffolding to design and build the huge scaffolding complex that will allow for visitors to climb up and see the work taking place first-hand.

Pen Mill Scaffolding will be on site until the Christmas break when they hand over to Ellis and Co. before returning to dismantle the scaffolding in the Autumn of next year.
