Winter opening at Trerice

Here's where we shared the news about Christmas at Trerice in 2021. Check back here nearer the time to plan a festive visit to Trerice in 2022.

As the days get shorter and the clocks fall back we move to winter opening at Trerice. The house and garden are open Saturdays and Sundays between 1 November and 5 December and then daily between Saturday 11 and Thursday 23 December, 11am-4pm.

Percy the Park Keeper's winter wander trail

Wrap up warm and treat your little ones to a winter adventure at Trerice with Percy the Park Keeper’s winter wander trail in the garden this December. Winter is a busy time for Percy, as there are lots of tasks to be done in the garden. Percy and his animal friends need some helpers to step into his wellies and give nature a helping hand.

Percy's left you a note with the reception team asking you to make your way around the garden and help him with his winter tasks. There’ll be a prize bag too as a thank you from him and his animal friends.

Percy the Park Keeper’s winter wander trail costs £2 per trail and is available on the weekend of 4 and 5 December and then between 11 – 23 December from 11am-3pm. Booking is not necessary for the trail but please be aware that Trerice closes at 4pm on weekends and the trail will be available to purchase between 11am-3pm.

Christmas at Trerice

Come in from the cold through a willow archway and warm yourself by the fire and embrace the festive spirit in the house decorated for Christmas from Saturday 20 November. In previous years some rooms of the house have been closed during winter opening, as the conservation team take this time to put the house to bed. This year the house will stay fully open through until Christmas with furniture uncovered and all the rooms, apart from the Morning Room, open and decorated for Christmas.

In the hayloft, help us decorate the Christmas tree by writing your wish for Christmas and the New Year on a paper star and then hang it among the branches and lights.

Unfortunately Father Christmas won't be able to join us at Trerice this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. He’s assured us that he’s staying well and looking forward to delivering gifts for Christmas morning. We’ve also been unable to welcome local choirs this December.

Eating and shopping

Head to the barn tea-room for hot drinks, yummy bakes, festive treats and light lunches this winter. The shop has plenty of gifts on offer as well as a range of Christmas decorations and treats. There are a variety of National Trust designed accessories to wrap up warm in and blankets to chase the chill away.

It is through your purchases that we are able to continue to look after Trerice for everyone, for ever.
