Winter opening at Trerice

A warming fire in the fireplace

Trerice house, garden, shop and cafe will be open weekends from Sat 5 December and daily between 12 - 23 December, you’ll need to book your tickets by 3pm the day before your visit.

Father Christmas

Father Christmas hasn’t been able to join us at Trerice this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. He’s assured us that he’s staying well and looking forward to delivering gifts for Christmas morning. We’ve also been unable to schedule craft activities or local choirs this December.

Visit the manor house

The clocks have gone back, the days are getting shorter and there’s already a wintery chill in the air. Warm yourself by the fire in the Great Hall and walk through the Tudor manor made more atmospheric by the low light of the winter months.

Normally some rooms in the house are closed during winter opening and the conservation team take this time to put the house to bed. In 2020 the house will stay as it reopened in September through until Christmas with furniture uncovered and all the rooms, apart from the Morning Room, open and decorated for Christmas.

In line with government guidelines you will be required to wear a face covering in the house. Please bring one with you. Visits are limited to ensure social distancing and entry to the house is not guaranteed on the day you visit.

Walk around the garden

Wrap up warm and enjoy the fresh air when you walk around the garden this winter at Trerice. It’s a short trip around the grounds but with plenty of leaves to crunch in the orchard, bracing breezes on the kayling lawn and wide views of the local area from the parade ground.

Take shelter from the elements in the summerhouse or visit the barn to warm up with a hot drink.

Eating and drinking

Head to the barn restaurant for hot drinks, yummy bakes, festive treats and light lunches this winter. There is a limited amount of socially distanced, indoor seating the barn with tables available for up to 6 people.

We’ve introduced new safety measures including screens at our till and collection points, and waymarked routes. We’ll also only be accepting card payment. Government guidelines require you to wear a face covering; please bring one with you.

Unfortunately due to distancing restrictions we have been unable to hang the gold stars from the ceiling this winter.

Shop for gifts and treats

The shop is open between 10.30am and 4pm at Trerice with plenty of gifts on offer and a range of Christmas decorations and treats. There are a variety of National Trust designed accessories to wrap up warm in and blankets to chase the chill away.

For the safety of staff and visitors we've introduced social distancing measures and changes to payment, which will be via card only. In line with government guidance visitors to our shop are required to wear a face covering. Please bring one along with you.

It is through your purchases that we are able to continue to look after Trerice for everyone, for ever.
