Discover a festive escape at Dyrham Park this winter with a seasonal celebration inspired by the stories and objects in the historic house.

Creative Christmas in the house

Decorated showrooms will reimagine collection highlights through creative festive displays, from crafted paper flowers inspired by still life paintings to blue-and-white decorations influenced by Dyrham's Delftware. Look out for mini animals wearing cute Christmas hats through the house.

All except one of the rooms decorated for Christmas are on the ground floor, which has an accessible step-free entrance.

Trees, wreaths and festive red bows

There will be lots of red bow decorations, a large outdoor Christmas tree with many more inside, and the chance to take a festive selfie next to a giant wreath.

Children's and adults' trail

Families can get active and let the excitement build while following a present trail around the 270-acre site. There will also be a festive poetry trail for adults around the garden, which points out some of the seasonal highlights.

Christmas food and shopping

The tea-room will be open each day serving mince pies, snacks, cakes and hot and cold drinks, and the takeaway kiosk will open on busier days. You can also warm up with a hot drink from the café in the parkland at Old Lodge at weekends and during the school holidays.

The National Trust shop is well stocked with cards, presents, hampers, food and drink and plenty of gift ideas in a lovely stress-free setting away from the busy high street.

On selected dates running up to Christmas, food and drink tastings are planned to sample some festive products available in the shop.

Wassail

A wassail to bless the harvest for the year ahead with singing, chanting and a procession of music and bashing pots will take place at Dyrham Park on Sat 2 Jan. Save the date for a lively, fun collective celebration with music and crafts.

Dates and details

The Christmas offer runs from Fri 20 Nov to Sun 3 Jan. The whole site will be closed on Thu 24 and Fri 25 Dec. No pre-booking is required.
