Japanese Pen and Watercolour Workshop

Learn traditional Japanese ink painting with local artist Ula Fung. Includes entry to award-winning Gardens.

  • Booking essential

Ula will teach you some basics of watercolour painting, as well as how to use an ink pen for sketching. In this workshop, we’ll draw inspiration from the Japanese Garden at Tatton Park and from traditional and contemporary Japanese art. The session will begin with a short demonstration from our experienced teacher, who will show you how to get started. Ula will then be on hand to guide you throughout the rest of the workshop. Ula is a local artist with over 15 years of teaching experience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art and a Master’s in Visual Art. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a brush before — this art class is a great introduction to watercolours and drawing techniques. It’s also suitable for those who already have some experience and want to learn new approaches or build on existing skills.

Materials (all provided): Technical pen, Sakura Koi watercolours, and watercolour paper.

You'll head home with your completed piece and a new skill that's perfect to practice whenever you're looking to clear your head.

*Towards the end of the workshop there will be an opportunity for you to get your photo taken. We will use these photos for social media and promotional use. Please let us know if you're not comfortable with this.

(Includes: Specialist Japanese Art Workshop, Park Entry and Garden Entry) Visit Tatton Park's website to book tickets.
