The Dogs of Godolphin project celebrates our canine visitors and explores how we’re improving the experience for people with and without dogs, through thoughtful changes and collaborative partnerships.

A partnership for people, dogs, and nature

Set up in partnership with Forthglade Natural Pet Food, the project covers over 500 acres of woodland, fields, and open countryside surrounding Godolphin.

We want to help dog owners explore the estate safely and responsibly, while protecting the landscape and wildlife that make this place so special.

Working with Vicki, our dog ambassador

We’ve teamed up with local dog trainer Vicki Main from Love Your Paws to better understand how and why visitors with dogs enjoy the countryside around Godolphin. As our friendly dog ambassador, Vicki will be chatting with visitors and sharing tips on great spots for a run, a good sniff, or a cracking view.

As someone who lives locally and walks at Godolphin most days with my own dogs, I’m thrilled to be part of the Canine Connections project. It’s a place I know and love and I’m excited to help make it even more welcoming for dogs and their humans. Vicki Main, Love Your Paws

Vicki lives just around the corner and walks her spaniel, Lochy, at Godolphin most days. If you spot them out on the trails, feel free to say hello or stop for a chat, she’s always happy to share local tips or hear about your favourite dog-friendly spots.

Supporting nature & farm life

We’re working closely with the local farmer to reduce incidents of livestock worrying and support the wide range of wildlife that call Godolphin home. From butterflies and bats to reptiles and ground-nesting birds, many species are thriving here – including choughs, which were spotted on the Hill for the first time this year. This is all thanks to thoughtful dog walking, responsible visits, and the way the land is carefully managed in partnership with the local farmer.

Below, you’ll find a timeline of the project so far, showing what we’ve been working on over the past few months.
