Apple pressing in Saltram's Orchard
Join us on Saturday 26th September to take part in this year's apple harvest, where we will be celebrating all things apples, orchards and folk traditions.

The day will be divided into two sessions (morning and afternoon). Both sessions will focus on apple pressing and preserving. The afternoon will include craft activities followed by a parade from the orchard to Saltram House. You are free to attend whichever session interests you most, with the afternoon specifically designed to support families and groups with young children. The day will be led by JarSquad, a Plymouth-based arts collective that brings together communities to reconnect with nature and food heritage.
Morning session (9:45am-12.30pm)
We'll spend the morning picking, pressing and preparing apples, while learning about their fascinating history. Activities will include: Apple tasting, Tree decorating , Apple pressing and spiralising
Lunch (12.30 - 1.15pm) bring a picnic lunch to eat together in Saltram's orchard. We'll provide hot drinks, apple juice and biscuits. All are welcome to join for lunch, regardless of whether you will be participating in the morning or afternoon sessions.
Afternoon session (1.00pm - 3.30pm)
The afternoon will contain many of the same activities as the morning, we will also be running craft activities, creating paper crowns and selecting costumes for a final apple parade.

The Orchard is approximately a 1km walk from the Welcome Centre (20 minutes on foot). The walk includes a moderate hill and the ground us uneven in places.
- Meeting point
For the morning session, please meet at the Welcome Centre at 9:45am. For the afternoon session, please meet at the Welcome Centre at 1.00pm.
- What to bring and wear
Please bring a packed lunch, wear comfy shoes and pack a waterproof. Please bring an empty bottle so that you can take some apple juice home!
- Other
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We want everyone to feel welcome. If the standard ticket price would prevent you from attending, please select a 'Concession' Ticket. No questions asked.
