Re-Chalking the Cerne Giant: Restoring Dorset’s Iconic Hill Figure
Volunteers and National Trust staff will re-chalk the Cerne Giant from 25 May to 5 June, restoring its iconic white outline. Visit the watch point to learn more about the process and how we care for Giant and the surrounding land.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
National Trust staff and dozens of volunteers will work together to restore every centimetre of the 460-metre outline, bringing back its distinctive white appearance.
If you would like to meet some of the team and learn more about re-chalking and the National Trust’s role in Cerne Abbas and West Dorset, members of our team will be available at the Cerne Giant View car park.
If you would like to have a go at re-chalking, there are bookable slots available during our Family Weekend on 30 and 31 May.
Alternatively, speak to the team at the watch point, who can check with the re-chalking team to see if there is any capacity on the day. However, due to the nature of the work, spaces are limited, and while you are welcome to come along, we cannot guarantee participation.
