Meet Rembrandt: a slow looking experience
Slow down, get comfortable and come face-to-face with Rembrandt at Kingston Lacy.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
One of National Trust’s greatest treasures comes to Kingston Lacy.
You are invited to spend time with Rembrandt’s Self-portrait in a Feathered Bonnet, giving yourself space to make your own discoveries and engage more deeply with this astonishing, flamboyant work.
There’ll be comfortable chairs for you to settle in, and audio guides to prompt your slow looking. What you see will be up to you; this is time for you to respond personally to a single work of art, connecting over nearly four centuries with one of the greatest visual artists ever.
Usually displayed at Buckland Abbey in Devon, the portrait will be on display at Kingston Lacy 12 January-22 March 2026.
This is a self-led experience. No pre-booking is required, however, we are operating an onsite timed ticket entry system. Please collect your timed ticket to meet Rembrandt from the entrance hall of the house.
