Rani Lacy, Kingston Lacy's exquisite Indian ivory-inlaid cabinet has returned to Dorset after a year of analysis and conservation at the National Trust's Royal Oak Foundation Conservation Studio at Knole, Kent.
Join curators Elena Greer and Kate Bethune for an in-depth exploration of the findings of the conservation project, which has revealed the painstaking craftsmanship of the eighteenth-century workshops of the coastal trading port of Visakhapatnam.
The talk will also reveal how the National Trust conservator carefully examined, cleaned and conserved the cabinet to return her to her former splendour, and explain some of the decision-making and the innovative techniques used to replicate missing elements.
The talk will be taking place in a fully accessible exhibition space. Personal wheelchairs and mobility scooters are welcome.
There will be no access to the house during this talk. If you would like to explore the house, gardens café or shop before this talk please visit from 9.30am and normal admission charges will apply (National Trust members will need to show their membership cards at Visitor Reception and non-members will need to pay the admission price (from £23 per adult, £11.50 per child) or join the National Trust).
