Tree Planting Days at Lodge Park
Would you like to play a part in restoring a historic landscape and bringing Charles Bridgeman’s vision for Lodge Park to life? Join us for free tree planting days every 1st Friday and 3rd Wednesday of the month this winter
- Booking essential
- Free event
Last winter, with help from lots of wonderful volunteers, corporate supporters, and community groups, we successfully planted 168 trees to form the Serpentine Avenues along the west side of Lodge Park.
This year, with your help, we will be working to establish the “Theatre of Trees” as part of the final stages in the restoration of this historic landscape.
We will start the day by making our way across the river to the tree planting location, either walking or in the ranger teams vehicles. Once there we will be planting large, container grown trees around 5m in height. They are heavy and challenging to manoeuvre, so you will work in pairs or small groups throughout the day. To protect the trees from livestock damage, we will be using hammers and nails to close them into wooden tree guards.
We will take a short break around 11am for tea/coffee and a lunch break around 12:30.
If you would like to join us for any of these tree planting sessions, please book a space. This ensures that we can adequately plan and prepare enough tools for everyone.
