Join us 26 July – 3 August for an inspiring day out with all the family, celebrating the Festival of Archaeology. Rest easy, you can depend upon the passion, skills and knowledge of the Hinton Ampner Heritage Archaeology Ranger Team (HART) to furnish you with the know-how and skills to get the most out of your archaeological adventure be it your first or seventy-first!
Come along to see finds from the Hinton Ampner estate and take part in digging for treasure in our sandpit. Collect a free Heritage Explorer’s spotter sheet from Visitor Reception and hone your archaeological skills as you learn to identify features across the landscape and take advantage of a varied schedule of daily Hinton Ampner history talks.
If you are 12 years of age or beyond, there’s an extra special chance to join an ‘Archaeological Parkland Walks’. Limited to participation by up to 16 people per walk, pre-bookable tours of the Hinton Ampner Parkland will be led by members of the HART team, who are equipped with extensive archaeological knowledge and a deep understanding of the Hinton Ampner historical landscape. Together, you’ll spot archaeological features across the parkland ranging from a Saxon church to an Anglo-Saxon Boundary ditch.
Bring the family to the grand finale of the Festival of Archaeology at Hinton Ampner where The Sealed Knot Society will be immersing us in The English Civil War.
