Hinton Ampner is a beautiful place to be as the seasons transition from summer into autumn. Join us for vibrant displays of produce from 20 September and pumpkins from 11 October.
See the changing landscape as nature begins to prepare itself for the winter months, offering perfect opportunities for autumnal photos and long fresh air walks. The trees weave patterns of yellows, browns and reds, casting an autumnal glow all around the grounds. One of the best views at Hinton Ampner is the show stopping autumn colours of the wider estate, best enjoyed from the benches flanking the terrace.
Head to the Walled Garden to witness slow, seasonal colour transitions from a vibrant green, to soft ochre as leaves fall away to reveal nature’s bounty; ripe apples and figs and pears hang ready for harvesting. Spot the rainbow of chard, see onions drying and grow your gardening knowledge helped by our garden guided tours before making your way along the gravel pathway to bask in the beauty of stylish flowerbeds packed full of dahlias, in shades loved by Ralph Dutton. Visiting with young children? Take the Autumn colour wheel challenge and discover the scents of a productive, Autumn garden. Little ones can spot pumpkin cut outs dotted amongst the plump produce!
From October 11 take in our plentiful pumpkin displays around the grounds. Spot the archway of gourds, wonder at the pumpkins growing plump in the Walled Garden and take advantage of seasonal photo opportunities with pumpkin displays being created from over 500 fresh pumpkins - spot them all around the grounds.

Apple Weekend with Sparsholt College
20 - 21 September 2025
Take a bite of the juiciest weekend of the year and join us in the productive orchard at Hinton Ampner friends and apple growing experts from Sparsholt College to celebrate all things appley and delicious! We’re super excited to be a part of this annual, national celebration of apples and orchards, reflecting on the richness and diversity of apple varieties, orchards, soil ecology and culture.
Take part in cider tasting from Mr Whiteheads Cider 12.00 - 4.00pm on Sunday 21st (subject to weather conditions) which can be purchased from the Hinton Ampner courtyard shop, along with different chutneys and other apple related products.

Harvest and Heritage: from Farming to the Future
18 September - 30 October 2025
Get to know farming over the ages at Hinton Ampner. Find out what was grown in the fields surrounding the house in 1839, glimpse the future of farming here in 2083 and see harvest inspired items from the collection.
Throughout the house, follow the story of harvest at Hinton Ampner. In the drawing room, see a map from 1839 showing crop planning and then look to the future with a visualisation of the farming landscape at Hinton Ampner is 2083; depicting a farming landscape where regenerative farming and crop rotation has ensured the productive endurance of the land and created a habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. Enter the library to find richly illustrated English botany books depicting key elements of the farming revolution, before stepping into the drama of the dining room where a harvest produce themed Minton dinner service awaits, celebrating the abundance of the land. Spot artichokes, cauliflower, sweetcorn, radishes, beetroot, and rhubarb to name but a few!

Pumpkin Displays
11 October - 2 November 2025
Jump into autumn with a splash of colour and marvel at our beautiful pumpkin displays around the grounds. We have over 500 perfect pumpkins to discover, with photo opportunities across the property.
Spot the archway of gourds, be amazed at the pumpkins growing plump in the Walled Garden and take advantage of seasonal photo opportunities. Pumpkin displays will be created using over 500 fresh pumpkins - spot them all around the grounds.
Little ones might enjoy spotting the pumpkin cut outs hiding in the Walled Garden, or smelling herbs in the Potting Shed and identifying beautiful Autumn colours with our interactive colour wheel.
