Hinton Ampner couldn’t run without the help of its volunteers. Joining the team here is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and help support this special place. We have a range of volunteering opportunities available seven days a week, indoors and out, behind-the-scenes or visitor facing. Whatever your skills or interests, there’ll be a role for you.
Opportunities for all at Hinton Ampner
Our volunteer team works alongside our staff to meet, greet, and help visitors feel welcome across the property, from the car park and Visitor Entrance to the tea-room and shop.
Not only do Hinton’s volunteers enable us to open the mansion house to visitors, they help look after our collections, maintain the beautiful, picturesque garden, and support the rangers in the management of 660 hectares of ancient park and woodland.
We aim to ensure our opportunities are as flexible as possible as we appreciate everyone has different needs and commitments. Do get in touch to find out how volunteering can work for you.

Re-imagining a Hampshire Estate Project
As the Reimagining a Hampshire Estate project begins to transform Hinton Ampner for visitors and nature, we want as many people as possible to be part of it. There will be continuing opportunities for volunteers and the local community to get involved, as well as ways for all visitors to share their experiences of the changing face of Hinton.
Community tree planting at Hinton Ampner
We are planting 60,000 trees over the next few years as part of our nature recovery project. Woodland creation provides valuable new habitat for a variety of species, as well as natural flood management and locking in carbon. Volunteers will play a vital role in this habitat creation project and the ranger team at Hinton Ampner are passionate about welcoming people and community groups to be part of our woodland creation project by planting trees on the estate.
