To mark the launch of a fascinating new book Women Artists and Designers at the National Trust, Mottisfont is shining a spotlight on four important works from its own collection, by influential female artists, Gwen John and Barbara Hepworth and Joan Eardley and Mary Potter. The four paintings will be on view in the West Corridor. These fascinating women were at the very centre of British and Continental avant-garde art in the early 20th century, and some were well acquainted with Mottisfont owner and arts patron Maud Russell, who turned her home into a hub for artists and writers.
