Dog-friendly places on the Isle of Wight
Miles of footpaths cross the land we look after on the Isle of Wight, from the coast to the downs, meaning that there are many places for dog lovers to walk with four-legged friends.
Play among the sand dunes and explore the beach at Nodes Point. There’s lots of space on the old golf course to throw a ball and the Duver is flat too, making it an easy walk for everyone.
The walking trail across Mottistone Estate will take you on a long, invigorating walk across the downs. Or there are plenty of shorter walks on the paths across Mottistone Common.
Take in dramatic views from the highest point on the Isle of Wight on a dog walk across Ventnor Downs. The trail can be challenging in places, but there are parking spaces on the top of the downs.
Stretch your legs on a dog walk past Bembridge Fort and Culver Battery, taking in far-reaching views as you go.
Dogs are welcome on the popular dunes and beach between Brook Chine and Hanover Point year-round, but please don't take them west of this along Compton, 15 May–15 September.
After a brisk walk along the Needles Headland, pop down to the Needles Old Battery tea-room to refuel. There's a dog-friendly section, so everyone can enjoy a treat.
