Conservation In Action
Catch our house team doing conservation in action, as we prepare for the winter clean and start thinking about putting the house to bed to keep the collection safe over the colder winter months.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
As we draw towards the end of our open season at Smallhythe Place, we start to think about the winter clean and 'putting the house to bed'. Watch members of our house team demonstrate the different procedures that our unique collection of over 9000 artefacts undergo each year over the winter. They are checked, cleaned, recorded, conserved and safely stored away to prevent any damage throughout the colder months.
As part of the final Conservation in Action session of the year, visitors can enjoy a unique show-and-tell experience, where a volunteer will present costumes from the collection.
This session is free with admission, and runs from 11am to 1pm.
