Guided Walk and Mindfulness: Skylark Serenade
To celebrate National Meadows Day, join our ecologist, Mel, as we walk through the glorious chalk grassland and take time out for a mindfulness moment to listen to the birdsong and the sea breeze blowing through the grasses.
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
Bring your yoga mat, picnic rug, or walking stick chair/stool, and join Mel Wrigley, our resident ecologist, as we take a gentle walk through the chalk grassland, sticking to the formal and informal paths to protect the breeding birds. We'll find a suitable spot to pause and lie on the ground (optional) amongst the meadows and take time out for a mindfulness moment. We'll listen to the beautiful song of the skylarks, corn buntings, linnets, and yellowhammers; listen to the sea breeze blowing through the grasses and see colourful flowers close-up. All in celebration of National Meadows Day. Free event, limited numbers, booking essential. Normal parking charges apply; National Trust members can park for free.

- Suitability
Supervised children are welcome.
- Meeting point
Meet outside Edith's Bookshop at the start time shown.
- What to bring and wear
Please bring something comfortable to lie or sit on or support you, and wear appropriate clothing for the weather.
- Accessibility
Most of the walk uses public footpaths or unmade paths through the grassland. A short section of the public footpath is steep with steps and may not be suited to wheelchairs or mobility scooters. If you have limited mobility, please call the contact number for advice before booking.
- Other
Quiet, well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome. Please be aware that the mindfulness session may last for 15 minutes or more. We won't be going near the cliff edge. We advise wearing stout shoes with closed toes. Most of the route is gentle, but a short section of the route involves a narrow public footpath with steps. Please use the toilet facilities at the visitor centre before setting out, as there are no toilets on the route. We advise bringing a drink, and you may wish to bring a light snack - please take all waste home with you. If the weather is fine we advise slapping on some suncream. In the event of rain or strong winds, the walk will not take place. If the weather forecast is bad, please check our website or Facebook before travelling.
