Evening Bat Walks in Langdale

Head out for family friendly bat and wildlife spotting adventures after dark with our Ranger team in Langdale.

  • Booking essential

Our bat walks are back! Taking place just after it gets dark, the time of day when Langdale’s bats are coming out to fly and feed.

Enjoy a fun family-friendly introduction to bats before setting off on a family friendly guided walk with our bat detectors to see what you can find. It’s not just bats out at night, maybe you’ll hear the call of an owl or the rustle of a passing mouse.

Head back to Lanty Slee's @ Sticklebarn to warm up with a hot drink and share your experiences.

£10 per adult, under 16's go free. Meet at 5.45pm for a 6pm start. Finished by 7.30-ish

Suitability

This is a family-orientated event, suitable for all ages.

Meeting point

Meet upstairs in the Hayloft at Lanty Slee's Langdale (Sticklebarn) at 5.45pm and grab a hot drink. We plan to start no later than 6pm.

What to bring and wear

This is an outdoor event so please wrap up warm, bring your waterproofs and wear suitable footwear. Remember to bring a headtorch as we will be heading out after dark.

Accessibility

Unfortunately the Hayloft (where the presentation is taking place) is currently not accessible for disabled visitors. However, the outdoor and and bat detecting part of the event is suitable for disabled visitors. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs so we can make arrangements as needed.

Other

This is an outdoor event that will go ahead in most weather so please come dressed for the weather. Please make sure you have warm clothes, waterproofs, appropriate footwear and headtorches. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the event. In the event that the weather forecast is so bad that the bat walk can't take place the walk will be replaced with an indoor session with the rangers. Sadly, dogs are not permitted at this event as the walk takes place close to grazing animals during darkness. Stickle Ghyll car park is the nearest. Standard charges apply, free parking for National Trust members.
