  • Booking essential

Gawthorpe Hall was Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth's family home and her childhood there helped nurture a lifelong passion for design, craft and textiles. Miss Rachel gathered thousands of textiles from friends, family and a wide network of acquaintances to form a treasure trove of objects that she used to educate and inspire. Textile Curator Rachel Midgley explores the life of Miss Rachel through her collection and will highlight some of the amazing pieces that she made, owned and collected during her lifetime and that form the legacy of the collection that still exists today. Come and be inspired by this amazing woman.

Ticket includes entry to the Hall where you can see the Gawthorpe Textiles Collection displays on the first floor, including a new exhibit about the 1925 Girl Guide fete and pageant. Plus, a new biography of Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth's life and work has just been published, why not buy your own copy at the Hall.
