Wildlife and nature experiences

Autumnal walks and photography
Autumn is one of the most rewarding times to visit Gibside, with ancient oak, beech and ash trees displaying some of the most spectacular seasonal colour in the North East. As the landscape transforms into a tapestry of gold, amber and copper, it's the perfect season for photographers and nature lovers alike. Capture the low afternoon sun, golden-hour light and the vibrant colours that make autumn at Gibside so special.
Explore one of our walking trails and discover spectacular views along the way. The Valley Views and Wonders of Nature trails lead you away from the busier areas of the estate, offering opportunities to experience moments of stillness and spot wildlife preparing for the colder months ahead.
Things to eat
Harvest the season and enjoy warming, seasonal dishes inspired by autumn's bounty. Look out for root vegetable stews and other freshly prepared hot meals throughout the season. Afterwards, enjoy a homemade seasonal scone, freshly baked and served in the café.
