Wallington autumn photography competition

Calling all photographers! We're excited to announce an open call for our brand new photography competition, celebrating the beauty of autumn and nature. This competition is open to all photographers, with separate age categories for those aged 16 & over and under 16.

Autumn is a very special time of year, and a truly wonderful season to be out and about exploring. To celebrate its beauty and take inspiration from its colours and textures, we're launching a photography competition this September, inviting entrants to submit images they have taken under the theme 'Autumn and Nature' from anywhere in the North East. Up to 30 winning images will be displayed in an outdoor exhibition throughout the woodlands here at Wallington in autumn 2026, with a number of highly commended images being displayed throughout the House. Read on to find out all you need to know about taking part.

Competition Details: 

  • Theme: Autumn and Nature 

  • Categories:

    • Up-Close

    • Autumn Colour 

    • Wildlife 

  • Entry Limit: Maximum of 3 entries per person 

  • Age Groups: aged 16 & over and under 16 

  • Image Requirements: 

    • No people in the images

    • The images do not need to have been taken at Wallington

Prizes: 

  • Up to 30 winning photographs will be reproduced in large scale and displayed in an outdoor exhibition in the enchanting woods at Wallington, Northumberland. 

  • Additional highly commended photographs will be showcased in the House.

  • Winning entrants will receive one free entry for themself and up to 3 guests to visit Wallington in autumn 2026 to visit the display.

  • Highly commended entrants will receive one free entry for themself and 1 guest to visit Wallington in autumn 2026 to visit the display.

Submission Guidelines: 

  • Ensure your photographs align with the theme and categories. 

  • Submit your entries by 21 December 2025. 

  • Include your name, age group, and category for each entry. 

Submission Criteria: 

  • Format: Digital images in JPEG or PNG format. 

  • Resolution: Minimum resolution of 300 DPI. 

  • File Size: Each image file should not exceed 10MB. 

  • Orientation: Photos of any orientation are permitted

  • Naming Convention: Each file should be named as follows: [YourName][Category][AgeGroup]. For example, "JaneDoe_AutumnColour_Over16". 

  • Submission Method: Submit your images via the email address: wallingtonphotocomp@nationaltrust.org.uk

  • Deadline: All entries must be submitted by 21 December 2025.

Exhibition Details: 

  • The photography exhibition will take place in Autumn 2026 (specific dates to be announced summer 2026)

Note: There are no monetary prizes; having your work displayed publicly as part of this exhibition is the reward.
