Fourth of July flag raising ceremony

Commemorate American Independence Day with a flag raising ceremony at Washington Old Hall.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

Celebrate the local history of Washington and its connections to American history at the Fourth of July ceremony.

Washington Old Hall incorporates parts of the original medieval home of George Washington's direct ancestors. Every year we commemorate July 4 at the Hall to acknowledge the Hall's connection to American history and bring together the local community. Come along to the annual flag raising ceremony and enjoy presentations about Liberty from local schools and live music on the top garden.

The flag raising ceremony will begin at 11am. For the whole day, Friday 4 July, there will be free entry for all to Washington Old Hall. The medieval hall itself will be closed to visitors until 2pm and access to parts of the garden will be restricted.
