Unleash your creativity with the heritage craft of willow weaving at a series of hands-on workshops at Castle Coole.

  • Booking essential

Under the expert guidance of Navar Willow, you'll learn traditional weaving techniques to create unique pieces to take home.

These individual workshops will take place monthly.

Workshop - Celtic Knot basket Workshop

Date/Time - Sat 1st August, 10am - 5pm

Join me and learn the traditional heritage craft of willow weaving in the magnificent surroundings of Castle Coole in a cosy room in The Grand Yard.

In this willow weaving session, participants will create an authentic Irish skib basket, a distinctive shallow willow basket traditionally used for straining and serving potatoes in Irish homes.

Using natural sustainable willow and time-honoured weaving techniques, you will learn how to construct the basket's base, shape its sides, and weave a beautiful decorative border. Finished pieces make excellent serving trays or decorative wall pieces. Suitable for beginners and experienced makers alike, this workshop offers an opportunity to learn a traditional craft, develop practical basketry skills, and create a beautiful and functional handmade basket to take home.

Cost £85pp. Includes all materials and refreshments. Tea, coffee and biscuits.

Spaces are limited, so secure your spot today. Tickets are available through Navar Willow: https://www.navarwillow.com/collections/workshops
