Birdspotting Walk with Aidan Crean
Join local wildlife expert Aidan Crean for a raptor spotting walk. Look out for our resident buzzards, ravens and kestrels.
- Booking essential
- Free event
During autumn, young Merlin, Hen Harrier and Short-eared Owl begin to disperse from their breeding sites across the Antrim Plateau, with some moving south towards the Belfast Hills. Rather than passing directly over the city, many spend time around the urban fringe between Cave Hill and Colin Mountain.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for these seasonal visitors, as well as our local Peregrine, Kestrel, Buzzard and Raven. We’ll also look for smaller passerines and any other birds making their way through the area. There have even been reports of Golden Eagles over the Belfast Hills at this time of year, so you never know what we might spot.
This event is free but spaces are limited so booking is essential.
