Summer has arrived at Rowallane Garden. We encourage exploration, play and picnics in the sun so come along and join us for a host of exciting activity throughout the summer months. From lawn games to sports, live music to tasty treats and something for our pawfect pals, summer is good to go in the garden.
Games on the lawn - From June throughout summer
Before the kids get off school, we thought we'd let the young at heart have some fun. Pay us a visit and play some boules, crouquett or giant jenga in the garden before you pick the kids up from school.
Who says adults can't have some fun?
Viewpoint Walk - Throughout Summer
We're opening up the farmland offering you an extension to your walk taking you up over the fields above the garden. Take in 360 views of the surrounding area as far as the Mourne Mountains, the Ards penninsula and beyond.
As the summer months progress watch out for a host of wildflower emerging filling this walk with colour.
Please note - Dogs must be kept on leads at all times. Dog faeces spread Neospora causing abortion in cattle. Please pick up after your dog.
Sporting Rowallane - from July
Hugh Armytage Moore is known for his garden and his work as a plantsman. But did you know his his spare time he was also a keen sportsman?
Come along and look at a different side to Hugh Armytage Moore as we share some collection photgraphs from his sporting career. This wonderful look into the plantsman of Rowallane Garden's life outside his garden will sit side by side with collection photographs of the garden during his ownership.
A Summer of Play at Rowallane Garden - July and August
Get your heart racing in nature this summer. Challenge friends and family to a host of games sure to get you active in the sun. Play volleyball or badminton on the front lawn, stroll through the Pleasure Ground in search of a pedal tractor derby, play tennis, disover our explore and play area and test our abilities as you duck under and clamber over the obstacles.
Play together, meet new friends and enjoy the sun all summer long.
