The most magical Glasshouse display yet

Clumber Park is celebrating the festive season with its most impressive Christmas Glasshouse display to date. Created by the Gardens team, led by Senior Gardener Dale Iles, this year’s installation transforms the historic walled kitchen garden’s Glasshouse into a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and the natural beauty grown on site.
The tradition of seasonal Glasshouse displays at Clumber Park has delighted visitors for several years, but this year’s Christmas showcase brings together more handmade and homegrown elements than ever before. Visitors will discover Christmas trees adorned with decorations lovingly made by volunteers, including hand-knitted stockings and jumpers, intricate book-art baubles, and dried flowers and foliage harvested directly from the garden.
A handcrafted wooden Wendy house and wooden trees, also produced by volunteers, nestle among Christmas bulbs grown by the team. Fresh foliage garlands drape overhead, creating a warm and inviting festive atmosphere. At the heart of the Glasshouse sits a giant Elf which is part of the park’s The Elf on the Shelf ® sculpture trail, adding a playful accent without drawing attention away from the artistry and effort that define the display.
Senior Gardener, Dale praised the combined dedication of staff and volunteers saying, “The whole display is inspired by nature. It’s homegrown, handmade, and entirely shaped by the incredible creativity of the team. Every element reflects months of planning, growing, crafting, and care. It really is our most ambitious display yet.”
The Gardens team, made up of 9 staff and 94 volunteers, have been creating seasonal displays for 5 years, but this year’s Christmas installation represents a new level of ambition and collaborative achievement.
The display will continue to evolve over the coming weeks as more and more Christmas bulbs burst into flower with Narcissus, Hyacinths and Amaryllis filling the Glasshouse with colour and scent. Visitors can explore the display throughout the festive period which runs up to and including Sunday 4th January.
