Pennine Way 60th Anniversary Walk from Edale

A challenging 8-mile guided walk celebrating 60 years of the Pennine Way from it's start in Edale and returning along the Kinder skyline.

  • Booking essential

This challenging guided walk celebrates 60 years of England's first National Trail, which snakes 268 miles from Edale to Kirk Yetholm. The Pennine Way opened on 24 April 1965 and is completed by thousands of walkers, ramblers and ultra runners every year.

Beginning in Edale, the walk follows the first 4 miles of the Pennine Way, ascending Jacob's Ladder onto Kinder Plateau. The route then tracks East along the Southern edge of Kinder Scout, with striking views of the Vale of Edale, before descending back into Edale village at Grindslow Knoll.

The walk is approximately 8 miles and includes a steep ascent, steps, and an uneven footpath. Dogs on leads are welcome but there may be some stiles.
