October half term Ironbridge Gorge

Long ago, people carved protective symbols, known as witch marks, onto their buildings. They believed marks would keep away bad luck and protect homes, shops and families. Martha the herbalist has discovered that several of the town's witch marks have faded away. Without them, the town's protection is weakening...

Can you become a Witch Mark Detective? Follow the trail around the town, find each missing mark, and take a wax rubbing to restore its power before All Hallows! Complete the trail to earn a prize.

• Dates: 17 October - 1 November
• Time: 9.30am - 4.30pm
• Price: £3.50 per trail, admission prices also apply
• Location: Purchase your trail sheet from the bank at Blists Hill
• Prize: Claim your prize from Visitor Reception on exit
• Age: This trail is aimed at primary age children (8-11) as it requires some reading and dexterity to complete the rubbings and the prize has small parts, although anyone over the age of 3 is welcome to take part
• Dogs: Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome, but only assistance dogs are allowed inside any of the buildings

As the leaves fall and the cold winds blow through the woods, the fairies of Blists Hill have packed up their houses and moved indoors! To keep warm, they have found cosy corners inside the town’s shops and buildings. In return for a warm home each fairy is helping to bake, sew, write letters, and do laundry! Look for the doors to their houses and signs of their
work. Complete the trail to earn a prize.
