T-Time Talk: The fight for our right to enjoy outdoors with Kate Ashbrook
Kate Ashbrook, general secretary of the Open Spaces Society, will talk about the society’s colourful 161-year history, the challenges we face today, and what the future might hold for our enjoyment of paths and open spaces in town and country.

Kate Ashbrook has been general secretary of the Open Spaces Society for 42 years. She has also been a trustee, chair, and president of the Ramblers, and a member of the former Countryside Agency board. She is currently vice-chair of the Campaign for National Parks and of the Dartmoor Preservation Association. She has championed our rights to enjoy paths and open spaces for much of her life, and in 2002 won a case in the Court of Appeal against East Sussex County Council which had failed to reopen the infamous, blocked ‘van Hoogstraten’ footpath in Framfield.
