Surrey Hills Military History Festival

Explore the fascinating history of Reigate fort, built in 1898 as part of a chain of defensive forts, at this two-day family event.

Meet costumed interpreters, explore the historic fort buildings, and learn how Reigate Hill played an important role in protecting London and the South East.

There will also be a series of talks from expert speakers covering a wide range of topics, including the historic Vickers factory at Weybridge, RAF Kenley, the story of the Kindertransport, the activities of the local Home Guard, and the role of Reigate Fort and other Victorian forts in the defence of London.

At Reigate Fort.

What to bring and wear

Please wear suitable boots of shoes for walking, as it is a 15 minute walk from the car park to the Fort.

Accessibility

Please note that there is no parking at Reigate Fort. Public car parks are located at Wray Lane – RH2 0HX and Margery Wood – KT20 7EJ - with a ten/fifteen minute walk over rough ground to the fort.

Entry to the festival is £5 per adult and £2.50 per child. Under 5s go free.
