Blackthorn walk

An old favourite returns, taking you from suburbia through rural landscapes that shouldn't exist so close to London.

  • Booking essential

Meet at Ripley Green for a 5 mile walk (parking at Ripley Green car park) then walk along the Wey Navigation past Newark and Walsham locks and back to Ripley. Along the way we'll pass water meadows, farmland, ancient historical landmarks as well as more recent but now forgotten sites of industrial heritage. The Blackthorn hedge by Newark Abbey is truly worth getting cold and wet for - if that's what the weather demands... Bring a packed lunch.
