Eating and shopping at Winkworth Arboretum

Treat yourself after your visit to the Winkworth Arboretum with a range of mouth-watering snacks, meals and drinks from a café or browse the shop and buy a little something to take home.

The café at Winkworth Arboretum

Open daily from 9.30am, the café offers sustainably and locally sourced produce where possible, all freshly cooked to a seasonal menu. As well as hot meals, soups and jacket potatoes you’ll also find a selection of cakes and bakes. Freshly made sandwiches are available year-round. Gluten-free and vegan options are also available. Please note the café closes 30 minutes before the Arboretum.

Indoor and outdoor seating

There’s plenty of seating inside the café as well as outdoor seating for when the sun’s shining.  On the covered terrace, you’ll find a small kiosk for those extra hot and cold drinks and ice creams.

Everyone welcome

Our café has designated dog-free and dog-friendly areas as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring all our guests feel comfortable and welcome. Our dog-free area is the perfect spot for those with allergies, phobias or simply a preference for a quieter atmosphere. Our dog-friendly area is space for your pets to relax while you enjoy a coffee. Water bowls can be found in the outside seating area. 

The café is fully wheelchair accessible and there are hearing looks at the counter. A range of accessible cutlery and crockery is also available including large handled knives, forks and spoons, two-handled mugs and feeder cups. Please ask for them when placing your order. 

Free Wi-Fi available available, so you can stay connected while you enjoy a cuppa both indoors and outdoors.

Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free. 

If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.

Always check when you visit

Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.

Remember your reusable cup

Every time you present a reusable cup when you order a hot drink at a National Trust café, tearoom or kiosk, we'll give you 25p off as a thank you for helping the environment by reducing the number of disposable cups used. Please note that in an effort to reduce our impact on the environment, single-use cups are not available in the café.

Shopping at Winkworth Arboretum

You’ll find the gift shop and plant sales area in the Visitor Welcome Centre selling a range of gifts, local products, seasonal souvenirs, plants and garden accessories.

Shop local

We're passionate about supporting Surrey-based makers and stock a selection of products by local creators. Choose from beautiful jewellery, locally made gins, beer and ciders.

Tasty treats

There is a good selection of fruity jams, tasty curds, crunchy biscuits and delicious drinks on sale in the shop. So, if you’re looking for food and drink gifts for friends and family or just something delicious for your own table, there's bound to be something to tempt your taste buds.

Fashion accessories

Discover our stylish collection of fashion from luxury scarves and foldable shopping bags with unique prints to contemporary handbags, timeless leather gloves, and classic hats, our range offers the perfect finishing touch for any outfit.

For the garden

In our plant sales area, you’ll find a variety outdoor plants, some reflecting what is in the arboretum. The National Trust uses peat-free plants in its gardens, and plants on sale here are grown according to a sustainable peat-free policy in UK nurseries that grow seasonal, hardy plants without artificially heated greenhouses.

There’s also all manner of useful and decorative items to help make your garden beautiful. Items include garden mirrors, wind spinners, metal sculptures and striking plant stakes.

Second-hand bookshop at Winkworth Arboretum - Opening Sept 2026

We will be converting the old tea-room into a second-hand bookshop.  We hope it will be agreat place to while away a bit of time during a visit.
