Nothing beats being active outdoors - it's good for the soul. But all these extra feet and wheels take their toll and nature is already very vulnerable. We can still enjoy these beautiful landscapes but let's protect them at the same time.

Planning an event?

If you are planning an event that will be using or passing through Birling Gap at any point you will need to contact the property to ensure that we can help with the necessary permissions and licences and ensure that your event runs as smoothly as possible.

Why do you need to contact us before the event?

As outdoor events become more popular, places risk being double booked. Larger volumes of visitors can also create parking issues and have other effects on the day to day operations of the site.  We therefore suggest that before you pick a date of a potential event you do the following:

  • check local and national event calendars to avoid scheduling clashes
  • check with the landowner to see whether there are any permissions or licences required to run the event
  • consider public transport availability if parking at the potential event location is limited or if it isalready  a popular site
  • Contact neighbouring landowners if your event is to include their properties - the South Downs National Park own and manage the adjoining Seven Sisters Country Park; Eastbourne Borough Council are responsible for managing Beachy Head; Seaford Town Council are responsible for managing Seaford Head.

What makes Birling Gap special?

At Birling Gap we welcome over 600 000 visitors each year to this small rurual cliff top location that has limited facilties.  As such we need to ensure that we balance the needs of all our users through careful planning and management of all our visitors. This is why we require all events and organisers that want to use the site in any way to contact us first so we can ensure that all our visitors have an enjoyable and sustainable experience here.
