Bodiam Dig: Landscape archaeology tour

Explore a unique variation of archaeology as Dr Al Oswald shows what can be seen on the surface, without digging. Learn how the landscape around Bodiam Castle can be read to reveal its history as a medieval parkland and more.

On this after-hours guided tour, landscape archaeologist Dr Al Oswald will show how you can read the world around you to make your own discoveries. As you are walk around the parkland of Bodiam Castle, see the archaeology visible right on the castle’s doorsteps. In his own words: ‘it is these visible remains, rather than what lies buried beneath the surface, that shape our everyday experience.’
