Join us over the Heritage Open Days weekend to explore the extraordinary art collection in the striking state rooms of the Baroque inspired House. Take a stroll in the expansive 'Capability' Brown landscaped Park, where you might spot some of the fallow deer herd. Relax in the Pleasure Garden, the perfect place for a picnic. Discover more about Petworth's history and collection in a guided tour of the house. Tickets allocated on a first come, first served basis. There will also be 10 minute highlight talks throughout the day. See the board by the house entrance for talk and tour times and topics on the day.
Our volunteers will be running free historical walks through Petworth Town, lasting approximately 1 hour. They run throughout the day so please ask our Reception Team for times, and collect your free ticket at Church Lodge.

Please note: entry to Turner's Vision at Petworth is not included in Heritage Open Days. Entry to the exhibition is £10 per adult, £5 per child. Admission fees for this exhibition apply to all visitors, including National Trust members.

Turner's Vision at Petworth
For the first time in 20 years, a specially curated selection of JMW Turner’s artistic studies of Petworth will be exhibited in the very place that inspired him. These rarely seen works give a fascinating insight into Turner’s methods.
Expressive fibres – fine art textile feltwork
For artists and makers with an interest in textiles, wishing to explore material behaviours and the wet felting technique. This course is based at West Dean College.
Watercolour painting for beginners – 'en plein air'
Petworth offers the unique opportunity to explore the wonders of watercolour in this iconic location. From blank paper to finished work, your tutor will help and encourage you to learn and gain confidence.
Watercolour painting influenced by Turner
Paint with watercolour in the style of Turner at Petworth House. Learn how to capture the essence of light and atmosphere, tonal shape and composition. Learn how to explore the narrative, and how to draw the viewer in to engage their interest.
