Shadow Over Our Valley recounts a mining disaster near the village of Pentrebach in a South Wales valley, where an explosion in 1863 trapped twenty-one men and four boys underground. Ninety-two years later, the development of a new colliery, initially met with opposition from local residents, led to the discovery of their remains and renewed attention to the tragedy and the events that followed.
