Celebrate St David’s Day at Dinefwr with birds, myths and making — a free creative workshop and live choir performance inspired by Welsh history, nature and storytelling.

Join us at Dinefwr this St David’s Day for a special celebration of Welsh heritage, creativity and the natural world. Set within one of Wales’ most historic landscapes, once the seat of the Princes of Deheubarth, Dinefwr has long been a place where stories, culture and identity meet. This year, we’re drawing inspiration from the birds of Welsh myth and legend, including the three ravens that feature on Dinefwr’s coat of arms.
Between 11am and 2pm through a hands-on workshop led by Artist Ami Marsden, children and families can explore the birds that appear in Welsh tales such as the Mabinogion, then choose one that feels personal to them. Using recycled and reused materials, you’ll craft your own wearable creation, from wings to masks, bringing your chosen bird to life in a fun, imaginative way.
The day will also feature a live choir, filling the beautiful surroundings with music and adding to the festive, community feel of this St David’s Day gathering, outside the takeaway cafe at 1.30pm.
This free public workshop takes place at Llandyfeisant Church, the historic estate church on the Dinefwr grounds, a unique and atmospheric setting for a day of making, music and celebration.
