Wrapped in Wisteria: A season centuries in the making

Celebrate Dyffryn’s iconic wisteria this spring. Soak up extraordinary blooms, enjoy unique experiences, and discover the garden at its most enchanting - by day or during our special evening openings.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Wander through cascades of pinks and purples as vibrant wisteria drapes the garden in colour and fragrance.

Follow the special Wisteria Highlights Trail to discover some of the garden’s most breathtaking displays or borrow Silent Disco headsets and experience Dyffryn your own way - dance to pop party tunes, promenade to a Regency-inspired playlist, or unwind with calming nature sounds.

Pause beneath the fragrant canopy of wisteria the Pompeian Garden, familiar from the BBC’s drama The Other Bennet Sister (yes, it’s as enchanting in person as it appears on screen!) and then indulge in elegant food and drink, with cream teas that you can take away to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of the gardens.

Elsewhere, deepen your appreciation of horticulture through The Art of Gardening, where wisteria propagation and cultivation techniques are brought to life on film. Take part in a creative response to the wisteria displays by borrowing sketchbooks, pencils, or watercolours, or stopping at easels to capture the cascading blooms. Explore interpretive displays about this iconic plant, and see Edith Adie’s 1920s watercolours, which offer a historical and artistic perspective on these spring beauties.

For an extra-special treat, come along to our evening openings (24 and 25 April, and 1-4, 8 & 9, 15 & 16 May, until 8.30pm) when the gardens take on a whole new charm. Wander beneath the wisteria as the sun sets, linger over your favourite spaces, and enjoy a peaceful end to the day.
