Planning your family visit

Here’s the information you need at a glance to help plan your next day out at Penrhyn Castle:

  • Baby-changing facilities are available by the Visitor Welcome Centre, in the kitchen courtyard and in the Barbican archway.
  • Pushchairs are permitted on the castle's ground floor. At busy times you may be asked to leave these on entry.

Christmas at Penrhyn Castle

We're decking the halls at Penrhyn Castle bringing the charm of traditional Victorian Christmas to the lavish rooms. If you're visiting with younger ones there are plenty of things to do. Look out for the handmade woodland animals that have made their way into the castle. As you wander through the rooms, find the mice, rabbits and hedgehogs enjoying the festive scenes. Don’t miss the Butler’s Pantry where you can make your own Christmas cards before the Christmas period, or a thank you card if visiting after Christmas Day.

Join us for this immersive experience on 6 December with our actor in residence to learn about Christmas traditions at Penrhyn Castle and the comparison with the reality of life during the Great Penrhyn Quarry Strike of 1900-1903, the longest industrial dispute in British history. There will be bilingual performances in the Victorian Kitchens throughout the day.

On 12 December be transported into the world of winter fairies and magic through song and drama with the storyteller Siwan Llynor. There will be a session in the morning at 11am and another in the afternoon at 1:30pm. There is no need to book, and the session will be included within the standard entry price.
