Meet the collaborators

Amser i Siarad is a mental health charity supporting adults and children and young people across Ynys Môn (Anglesey) and Gwynedd. Based in Caernarfon, they provide information and services focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Galeri Caernarfon is a non-for-profit community arts centre offering theatre, cinema, work units and exhibition spaces. Their vision, “Creu Cyfoeth Cymunedol Cynaliadwy” (Creating Sustainable Community Wealth), is reflected in the diverse artistic programming, including theatre, film, exhibitions, music and workshops.

Meet the artists

Five Welsh-speaking artists were commissioned to produce a variety of sensory artworks inspired by the heritage of Plas Newydd. These pieces then shaped a series of workshops with Amser i Siarad clients, where creativity became a way to explore new art forms, spark conversations and support wellbeing.

Each artist brought a unique approach:

  • Ticky Lowe led workshops using upcycled fabrics and containers to explore the idea of giving forgotten objects new life.

  • Sarah Zybroska introduced participants to storytelling through film and music, encouraging self-expression through sound and image.

  • Ffion Pritchard focused on interactive pop-up books, using touch, texture and movement to explore sensory storytelling.

  • Glyn Price invited participants to connect with nature through painting and sensory activities in the garden at Plas Newydd.

  • Ella Louise Jones worked outdoors with eco-printing and natural dyeing, exploring creativity through colour, scent and nature.

The ‘Synwyriwm’ exhibition will be at Plas Newydd until 2 November 2025. The House is open daily from 10am to 4pm.
