Calling all wildlife enthusiasts and families. Help us research and discover the wildlife living at Southwood. Record the plants and animals that you find.
No experience necessary. Suitable for experts who want to record specific species. Suitable for people who want to improve their ID and recording skills. Suitable for complete beginners and people who would like to learn. Suitable for children and families.

The basics

Suitable for children under 12 if accompanied by an adult.

Southwood Estate car park.
- What to bring and wear
Clothing appropriate for the weather. Strong shoes for walking or wellingtons if its raining. No facilities. Please bring your own refreshments and snacks.

Rough, uneven ground. Steps to access the toilet. Nearest accessible toilet at Newgale.
- Other
On a hot day Southwood can get very hot so bring plenty of water & drinks to stay hydrated. Bring sun protection, a hat as well as a raincoat just in case. If it rains we will do some activities in the sheep shed. Members park free, Non members pay parking charges. Sturdy walking shoes are advised. Uneven paths and steps.
