As the clocks turn back and the last light fades from the moat, you'll be led across the bridge and into the former home of the Ferrers family, who lived at Baddesley Clinton for over 500 years. By lamplight, the familiar rooms take on a different character: the library, unnaturally quiet, the chapel seems to hold its breath, and the bedrooms and hidden spaces invite you to listen closely for what history may have left behind.
You'll walk in the footsteps of those who came before, hearing stories of revenge, alleged murder, priest holes and unexplained happenings. A 1914 newspaper once reported: "Seen at dusk or in the light of a full moon Baddesley Clinton takes on an aspect which is almost grim and sinister. It becomes the moated grange of fiction in which dark deeds are enacted, ghosts walk, and villainy is constantly on foot."
