'Drawing Closer': art walk with Tamsin Loveday
Join local artist Tamsin Loveday on a creative walk amongst the Avebury stones, exploring and connecting creatively through a series of artistic prompts.
- Booking essential
Tamsin Loveday has been drawn to ancient monuments since growing up on the edge of Dartmoor.
On Sunday 18 May, she will be leading a special creative walk, encouraging participants to 'draw closer' to the Avebury stones. On this walk, you will be encouraged to pause, to be present and use to your senses to explore Avebury in a new way. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the site and use experimental drawing techniques to capture your experience. For example, close your eyes and draw what you hear using touch and coloured pastels.
Throughout Tamsin's career she has worked with people in a variety of settings, with participation continuing as a central theme in her artistic practice. Tamsin makes art through "any means necessary!" with skills in printmaking and books. Recent research and exhibitions, such as "Echoes and Threads" in 2024, explores how contemporary people relate to places like Avebury, including beliefs and practices such as leaving offerings.
No art experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to explore. The workshop will be held on Sunday 18 May, 10:30am-12:30pm at £25 per person. All materials are included, but please wear clothes suitable for the weather conditions.
